A Balabac National High School (BNHS) teacher has been arrested by the local police for the rape of a Grade 9 student.

Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPO) information officer P/Capt. Ric Ramos said Monday in a phone interview that the suspect, identified as Rogen Villaran, 29, a secondary school teacher of the BNHS, has undergone inquest proceedings.

Ramos declined to give more information about the case but said that it happened at the BNHS on Friday, December 13 right after the suspect’s class Christmas party.

Villaran is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8353 or the “Anti-Rape Law of 1997” and Republic Act 7610 or the “Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.”
