More uniformed operatives have been sent to beef up backdoor security in Balabac to ensure that returning residents and Filipino overseas workers from nearby Malaysia are not COVID-19 carriers.
Balabac disaster risk reduction management officer Mitra Tanjalani said the additional uniformed personnel sent on April 3 by the Philippine Marines, Philippine Navy. Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police will man around 11 outposts and quarantine control points in the island barangays to secure backdoor.
Tanjalani said the sending of additional security personnel was a request from Mayor Shuaib Astami who wants to particularly make sure that travelers from Malaysia who will pass by Barangay Mangsee Island will be thoroughly checked for any signs or symptoms related to COVID-19.
