The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division said its all systems go for the Palarong Panlalawigan 2019 that will be held for the first time in Bataraza town.
Grace Estefano, division information officer of the DepEd Palawan, said Tuesday everything is 100 percent ready for the Palarong Panlalawigan that will be from November 10-15.
“As far as the DepEd Palawan is concerned and the local government of Bataraza and the provincial government, we are 100% ready for the provincial meet this year,” Estefano said.
Estefano said the League of Municipal Mayors chose Bataraza to be the venue of the Palarong Panlalawigan because of the willingness of Mayor Abraham Ibba and the municipal government to host the event that is the breeding ground of athletes who wish to excel in various events.
Estefano said that the division started the preparation last year with an ocular inspection of the billeting areas for the athletes and their delegations.
“Sa DepEd Palawan nagsimula pa last year ang preparation, nag-ocular inspection ng areas together with the local government units at iba pang involved sa Palaro. Tiningnan natin ang mga billeting areas kung kakasya ba doon ang mga delegations,” she said.
She added that upon checking the areas and finding little problems in facilities, Bataraza immediately responded by repairing them.
Estefano said that they have also identified plans that they may use when problems arise during the Palarong Panlalawigan.
“Nagkaroon kami ng options 1, 2, and 3 kasi nakita namin noong una kaming mag-ikot ay ‘yong water ang baka maging issue. Ang sagot ni LGUs ay mga firetrucks mula Aborlan paakyat, Narra, Sofronio Española, Brooke’s Point at Bataraza. “Yon ang magdi-distribute ng water. Pangalawa ay CR, ang ginawa ni LGU nag-procure sila ng 50 portalets na idi-distribute sa biletting venues,” she said.
She added that in case there will be glitches, the DepEd is resilient in terms of providing solutions in problems.
Estefano shared that the Palaro will feature a dancesport competition instead of an exhibition and will also continue the Basketball 3×3 competition for this year.
“Ngayon may dancesport kasi dati ang dancesport ay exhibition lang. Pero ngayon ay kasama na siya, ‘yong 3×3 nagsimula last year at ico-continue ‘yon. Dancesport will be a regular competition,” she said.
Meanwhile, Estefano said they are expecting that all municipalities will attend the Palaro. Kalayaan town, the farthest area where the delegation will come from, will be participating.
Last year, the town failed to join the Palarong Panlalawigan due to bad weather conditions.
This year’s theme is “Achieving Discipline, Teamwork, and Excellence Through Sports”.
