The Adventist Hospital Palawan (AHP) was recently recognized as the Regional Winner for the 2021 Search for Outstanding Labor-Management Cooperation (LMC) organized by the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB).

AHP attributed the award to its “Happy People” who supported #AHappyPlace’s programs which were guided by its SHINE Principle: to “serve, help, inspire, and nurture” its people to accomplish its mission of sharing God’s love through healing.

AHP Chief Operations Officer Dr. Ian Kenneth Bermeo said in an interview on Friday that the recent recognition was about the best practices for the employees and for the communities in the city and in the province amidst the pandemic.

“Yong “#AHappyPlace, matagal na naming pina-practice. We value cooperation and growth of our people as we serve communities. Plus, this recent award by DOLE-NCMB really recognized some of our best practices, especially during the pandemic.  Some examples are about our Covid-19 Care Program for Employees where they have free accommodation, free food, free fruit basket and vitamins, free emotional and mental health support, among the many services we do for them on top of receiving full salary if they happen to get Covid-19 while on duty. Another is our retirement plan, where if you put in a certain number of years of service, you get retirement pay for life. We also provide educational scholarships for children of qualified employees from elementary until they graduate from college. Qualified employees can also avail of the scholarship if they want to take master’s degrees,” he said.

Likewise, AHP president and chief executive officer (CEO) Mr. Elias Apacible said in a press release the same day that hospital management is thankful to the DOLE-NCMB’s recognition.

“This is an award for every employee who cooperated to work together despite the challenges during this pandemic. I am blessed and honored to work with a group of happy people who are doing their best for each other,”

In 2019, the AHP was also awarded Regional Winner in the same DOLE-NCMB search and was also recognized as one of the Top 10 Best Level 2 Hospitals in the Philippines in the DOH (Department of Health) Hospital Star Awards. The hospital is also a recipient of the Puerto Princesa City Mayor’s Awards 2021 for having the “Most Valuable Medical Innovation” and “Frontline Medical Heroes of the Year.”
