Four policemen were reportedly hurt in a clash between joint personnel of the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and a group of armed members of the New People’s Army (NPA) at Sitio Giub, Barangay Maasin in Brooke’s Point shortly before noon Thursday.

The incident happened while operating troops were out to conduct internal security operations (ISO) in the Maasin area.

A police report sent by Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA spokesperson P/Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado said since the encounter happened around 10:30 a.m., four members of the mobile force companies have been hurt.

“As of 2:30 p.m., four members of the operating troops have been wounded,” the regional police report claimed.

Two of them were identified by the regional police as patrolmen (PTLM) Jayvee Golifardo and Darwin Cadang of the 1st PMFC.

The other two are for confirmation, but Palawan News sources named them as PTLM Jerry Austria and Raymart Bulacan.

The violent confrontation between the police and the insurgents transpired a few days after an encounter between the Marines and the NPA also happened in the same barangay but in a different sitio.
