3-day table tennis tourney concludes at Baragatan

Provincial sports and games inspector and tournament director Francis Nemenzo said the winners will be representing Palawan in a table tennis tournament in Brunei under the BIMP-EAGA.

The three-day 2nd Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez Table Tennis Tournament had been concluded on Wednesday as part of the Baragatan sa Palawan Festival and the provincial sports office’s bid to look for fresh players.

Precious Fulgarinas and Jeff Piramide won the championship for the first tournament in the women open singles and the 17 and under boys categories.

Fulgarinas and Piramide both received P5,000 each for winning in their categories.

Jake Manuel and Brando Paul, on the other hand, won the championship in the men’s doubles. Each also received P5,000.

Meanwhile, the team of Brooke’s Point municipality received P10,000 for winning the men’s team event.

Provincial sports and games inspector and tournament director Francis Nemenzo said the winners will be representing Palawan in a table tennis tournament in Brunei under the BIMP-EAGA.

He said the provincial government sponsors sports events like table tennis in a bid to discover fresh talents that can represent Palawan.

“When it comes to sports, nagpapa-tournament kami to discover new talents coming from different municipalities all over Palawan,” he added.

More than 50 tennis players competed in the 2nd GJCA table tennis tourney from Balabac, Quezon, Brooke’s Point, San Vicente, and Puerto Princesa, and the Tagburos table tennis organization.
