To develop camaraderie among the “force multiplier” of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Palawan, hundreds of reservists in Palawan gathered during the first-ever Reserve Summit and Mini Sportsfest on Saturday.
Commodore Rodrigo Mejia, PN (Res), commander of the Naval Forces Reserve West (NFRW) said that the simple gathering will help to boost the morale and understand the purpose of the reserve force.
He also emphasized the role of the reservists as force multipliers, which allows qualified individuals to extend the effort of the AFP through volunteerism.
“This is part of your training, the sports fest is to boost your moral dahil lahat tayo ay may role sa ating bansa which is to protect our country,” he said.
Dagit-Langit-Lupa (DaGit-Pa) exercise and Maritime Training Activity (MTA) Sama Sama 2019 were among the exercises which involved the reservists to develop the military in different expertise through interoperability operations.
Mejia also mentioned Republic Act no. 7077 or the Philippine Reservist Act of 1991.
“Kailangan natin ‘yan magkaroon ng mga training and exercises with Japan, the United States, and other allies. Nasa constitution pa ito, lahat kayo will be called for active duty in times of war to defend our sovereignty. Ngayon peace time tayo pero hindi lahat peace time, kaya dapat prepared tayo,” Mejia added.
