The city police has filed a case of parricide against a woman from Barangay Tiniguiban who allegedly stabbed to death her 2-week old child in May.

City Police Station 2 commander P/Maj. Edgar Salazar told Palawan News they filed the case against the suspect, a 19-year-old mother of the child, after completing an investigation and gathering evidence on the case.

When the case was first reported to the police after the incident on May 29, the mother of the victim child told investigators he was stabbed by an unknown assailant who had entered her residence. Enforcement authorities, however, continued their investigation to corroborate the account of the mother.

Salazar said they were able to gather evidence against the mother, including a statement from her husband who claimed she had confessed to him about the killing.

Salazar also noted that the clothes the mother was wearing were not torn and had no bloodstains on them though she has a stab wound, raising suspicion on her account.

Salazar said they believe the killing of the baby was premeditated and that the suspect tried to mislead the investigators.

“Kung titingnan natin parang planado. Base doon sa imbestigasyon natin, wala talagang tao, kasi may mga tao sa paligid at wala silang nakitang lalaki at babae napansin na ganoong itsura sa nababanggit niya,” he said.
