EL NIDO, Palawan — Seventeen out of 18 barangays in this town have received their P200,000 financial aid from the provincial government.
They were received by the treasurers and the barangay chairmen at the pavilion of the Capitol on June 4. The distribution was spearheaded by Liga ng mga Barangay president and ex-officio board member Ferdinand Zaballa and representatives by the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO).
In a phone interview with Palawan News, Brgy. Sibaltan chairman Arvin Gabayan explained he failed to arrive to receive the financial aid for his barangay because they ran out of official receipts.
He said he will return on Monday, June 8, to receive it and purchase rice and other food assistance for the more than 2,800 residents in Sibaltan.
Brgy. Corong-Corong chairman Ryan Abela, meanwhile, said he will first discuss with his council on how the financial aid will be used.
“Pag-u-usapan muna namin kasi we have plans to buy additional rice for relief goods and if it is possible also to reserve the half amount for future needs kasi hindi natin hawak ang panahon kung hanggang kailan itong pandemya matatapos,” he said.
