ODIONGAN, Romblon — About 15 security guards posted in branches of some financial institutions in Romblon province received total back wages of P1,517,045.40 from their security agency thru the help of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) early this month.
In a press statement released by DOLE Field Office-Romblon, they explained that DOLE is the agency mandated to regulate labor laws and social legislation like Order No. 183-17, otherwise known as the “Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code”.
Last year, the security guards filed a complaint to DOLE-Romblon against their security agency regarding their wages and wage-related benefits and DOLE’s further investigation of the complaints resulted in this move.
DOLE-Mimaropa Sheriff Lesly Romero facilitated the payment of wages and wage-related benefits. The sum of the monetary benefits for each employee ranges from P8,994 to P148,894.76.
Affected workers expressed appreciation to the department for properly addressing and assuring that they will receive from their employer the benefits due to them. (SFJ/PJF/PIA-MIMAROPA/Romblon)
