A twelve-year old boy died in a fire that burned down his home at Purok Centro, Brgy. Tabon in Quezon municipality, Monday night.

Provincial Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) spokesperson FO1 Jomer Burlas identified the victim as Grade 8 student Kesoro Insigne Takeda, son of house owner Rosalinda Insigne.

Burlas said the fire started at around 11:30 p.m. but was only reported to them past midnight.

Burlas said that when they reached the site of the incident, neighbors told them there was no longer anyone inside the Insigne home.

Kesoro’s burnt body was only discovered inside the house’s comfort room after they had already declared “fire out” at around 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday.

In a follow-up investigation on July 3, he said that they found out from a witness that an explosion was heard coming from the middle area of the Insigne residence.

He also said that they are suspecting that it could have been due to faulty electrical wiring.

Burlas said Rosalinda only learned about the death of her son on the morning of July 2. She was reportedly in her farm managing the harvesting of coconuts when the fire happened.

Dalawa kasi ‘yong bahay nila, ‘yong isa sa may tabing-dagat at ‘yong isa ‘yong nasunog,” he said.
