“You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you.” Deuteronomy 3:22
We undergo many battles in our lives on a daily basis. Nobody is spared from struggles and afflictions, great and small alike. But the difference comes in the way we deal with these battles. Do we cower and hide inside, denying their existence, sadly living in a lie that there are no problems at all? Or, rightly, do we face them head on?
When we are already on the right track, geared with the courage to face our battles, there is still an important question that needs honest answering: Where do we get our courage?
Maybe we are getting our courage on our mighty self. But… Are we truly capable on our own? Are we too confident of our past victories that we rely on our own successes and abilities? Are we even wise enough? Can we sustain it?
The very accurate answer to that important question of where we should get our courage must be God Himself. We are only humans, God’s creations, dependent on our Creator to nurture us. In our world now, there is a prevalent untruth that we are masters of our own self. In reality, even the greatest man in the world needs God to face his battles and be victorious. The Bible says in Ephesians 5 that our battle is not physical but spiritual. Hence, we need our Spiritual God to help and guide us.
And the most comforting of all is that when we are bombarded with problems, we do not need to struggle, but we need to pray and ask God to take care of our concerns. Deuteronomy 3:22 affirms that we should not fear, for it is the Lord who fights for us. Imagine the Creator of the universe Himself taking care of your problems. That’s our greatest comfort in this life!
