The Western Command has condemned in strongest terms the arson incident in Sitio Linao, Brgy Culandanum, Bataraza, Palawan on Wednesday March 8. In an official statement, Wescom called the incident an “abominable act of violence, loathe and greed of this terrorist group. Such acts are tantamount to their insincerity to pursue lasting peace, and their irrevocable resolve to continue harrassing and extorting from vulnerable targets,” based on the statement.
Based on PNP-Bataraza’s records, at least 19 armed men believed to be members of NPA torched three heavy equipment units, specifically a Jack dump truck, a 330B Caterpillar backhoe and a D85E Bulldozer Komatsu. The said units belong to Kalasaguen Farmers Producers Cooperative formerly San Andres Palm Oil in the said area. Authorities estimate the loss to have reached around Php 10M.
Tindog assured that since the lifting of the peace talks and cease fire order, the Western Command is continually conducting focused military operations to combat terroristic acts and any form of economic sabotage.
