After the successful voyage of Kalayaan Atin Ito Movement to Kalayaan Island in December 2015, around 45 youth volunteers are stranded in Brgy. Buenavista, Puerto Princesa City as they don’t have money for their fare back to their respective provinces.

According to Mariel Ipan, one of the youth volunteers, after their voyage to Kalayaan Island in the West Philippine Sea which ended January 3, 2016, they remain in their rented area in Brgy. Buenavista waiting for the generosity of some individuals for them to return home and be reunited with their families.

Aside from financial problem, the youth volunteers are also facing  possible eviction from the area they are renting in Brgy. Buenavista as the lease contract ends today, January 10.

More than a hundred volunteers of Kalayaan Atin Ito Movemnet from different parts of the Philippines  flocked to Puerto Princesa City December 5, 2015  to start the freedom voyage. The voyage aimed to inspire Filipinos to unite in preserving the country’s maritime and territorial integrity over the disputed West Philippine Sea.
