The Palawan Electric Cooperative (Paleco) has now a Smart Grid System that can help reduce the occurrence of power outages in Puerto Princesa City.
According to Paleco General Manager Ric Zambales, the Smart Grid System would help Paleco in monitoring the power lines in the city.
He said the information they will get from the system would speed up their technical team’s response in times of power interruptions.
Representatives from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), US Pacific Command (US PACOM) and Department of Energy (DOE) arrived on November 7 to orient the Paleco management of the system.
The equipment installation in Paleco substation was led by US PACOM team leader, Dr. Steve Chan on Nov. 8.
Among 121 electric cooperatives across the country, Zambales said Paleco was lucky to be one of the USAID’s Smart Grid System project beneficiaries.
