The U.S. Navy Seventh Fleet Band’s Far East Edition (FEE) is coming to Puerto Princesa City this week for a series of music workshops and performances.
The eight-piece show band which is part of the 7th Fleet Band is known for its amazing versatility in rock, pop, ska, soul, jazz, and rhythm & blues.
FEE has been a featured attraction at major events throughout the Indo-Pacific region, entertaining hundreds of thousands of people over the years.
The band is scheduled to hold two major performances in two venues in Puerto Princesa City on June 9, Saturday — 10 a.m. at Mendoza Park and 6 p.m. at the SM Premier Mall.
A US embassy official also told Palawan News the band will be conducting a free musical outreach workshop in three different venues to be attended by students and music enthusiasts.
The first workshop will be held June 7, Thursday morning, at the Palawan National School (PNS).
Two similar workshops have been scheduled on June 8. A morning workshop will be held at the Palawan State University (PSU), followed by an afternoon workshop at the San Jose National High School.
Each of the outreach workshops will be capped by a performance of the band in the workshop venue.
Created in 1943 with the establishment of the U.S. 7th Fleet, the 7th Fleet Band has performed for millions of people throughout Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines. The 7th Fleet Band is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, along with the U.S. 7th Fleet flagship, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19).
