The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is urging candle sellers and flower vendors not to take advantage of All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day to double the prices of their items.
DTI Regional Director Joel Valera said they are continuously monitoring prices of candles and flowers in various market places in Puerto Princesa and Palawan to guarantee that vendors are not going to take advantage of the observance of the special occasions.
With only a week to go before the Christian festivals, the DTI already issued the suggested retail prices (SRP) for vendors to abide by. It is also encouraging the consumers to immediately report to them anyone, who would take adverse gain during the observance.
If proven to be violating the set SRPs, a vendor may face confiscation of his/her items and worse, closure of his/her establishment.
