Dumaran, Palawan – The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Dumaran, northern Palawan recovered on Thursday some 70 dead sea turtles from suspected poachers while conducting a seaborne patrol near Barangay Bacao, Dumaran.
Authorities have arrested the owner of the motorized banca and one crewman who were found in possession of the turtles. The police investigation report indicated that the boat had departed from Barangay Maytegued, Taytay enroute to Balabac for delivery to an unnamed buyer of the turtle meat.
A certain Rico Gonzales Jr., reportedly the boat’s owner, and a Kim Aristotles were apprehended by authorities. The confiscated contraband were placed under the custody of the Dumaran PNP prior to filing of charges against the suspects.
