Two indigenous communities in Barangay Sandoval, Bataraza forged a partnership with Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation to undertake a Health Awareness Program.
In partnership with Rural Health Unit of Bataraza, RTNMC and CBNC with the initiative of the tribal council, So. Proper and So. Pasi-Pasi, Sandoval simultaneously participated in Health Awareness Program implemented by both RTNMC and CBNC under its Social Development and Management Program. The program benefitting two sitios collectively have an allotted budget of Php 130,000 including hygiene kit and health sanitation materials.
The activity was attended by Ramona Adjed, Community Development Assistant of Bgy. Sandoval; Rivah Sineneng, Midwife; Hilaria Venus, RN and Malou Diastro, TB Aide. RHU-Bataraza practitioners forefront the said activity, they conducted Feeding Program, Anti-Tuberculosis Program and Distribution of Hygiene Kit benefitting 113 children aged 0-15 years old.
Anti-Tuberculosis Program was preceded by Purified Protein Derivative Skin Test (PPD Test) to determine whether the patient is reactive and does have Tuberculosis. Hilaria Venus, RN II and NTP Coordinator said that they conducted the test beforehand to see the implication of the solution 3 days after.
“Yung PPD Test po ay ginagawa para malaman kung ang pasyente ay may TB o wala. Babalik po sila sa Friday, 3 days after po para malaman yung reaction ng system nila kung may Tuberculosis sila o wala”, Hilaria said.
Hilaria acclaimed that Bgy. Sandoval, Bataraza is fifth on the highest Tuberculosis case all over Palawan. The program foresees a well and Tuberculosis-free Bataraza. Likewise RTNMC and CBNC is anchored and committed to the advocacy “Sa Responsableng Pagmimina, Kinabukasan ang Pamana”.
