The municipality of Taytay is set to develop a natural park it calls “Taytay Landmark” aimed at drawing more tourists to visit the municipality’s nature attractions.
Taytay tourism officer Joie Matillano said the project, already with an initial allocation of P500,000 from the municipal government, will have a nature park, picnic, and trekking areas featuring a scenic view of the town.
“Plano namin na i-develop ‘yan, lagyan ng park and for hiking kasi maganda talaga ‘yung view d’yan,” Matillano said.
“Dati, may mga plans na d’yan medyo hindi lang agad naayos kasi nga wala pang budget pero ngayon, we expect na sana magawa agad namin ito,” he added.
He said that the development of the attraction will also provide employment to locals.
He also said that the local government is undertaking the project in anticipation of an increase in tourist arrivals in Palawan.
Sangguniang Bayan Member and Committee on Tourism chair Merly Paculanang said that the landmark, after so many years, will finally have its plan.
“Matagal na naming pinaplano ‘yung pag-develop niyang Taytay Landmark para gawing eco-adventure theme park,” Paculanang said.
“Nagsu-survey pa kami kung hanggang saan lang puwede ang turista, at pini-preserve namin ‘yung mga puno d’yan sa area na yan,” she added.
