The Palawan Provincial Police Office through ‘Special Task Group GSB’ is still conducting a thorough investigation on the murder case of Rescue 165 Chief Gilbert Baaco who was shot dead on April 14, 2017 in Barangay Barong-Barong, Brooke’s Point, Palawan, this according to PSI Ric Ramos, Palawan PPO spokesperson.
Ramos said that based on the discussion of the task group, all angles are being studied to determine who are behind the crime.
It can be noted that there are reports circulating online that the New People’s Army (NPA) has claimed responsibility for the murder of Baaco after receiving reports that the latter was a drug lord and gun runner.
PSI Ramos said the PNP, in partnership with experts, is studying the legitimacy of the rebel group’s claims.
“Kailangan natin ma-verify talaga, kasi ang allegation doon may koneksyon sa drugs eh wala naman s’ya sa watchlist,” Ramos explained via phone patch interview with Palawan News.
The Special Investigation Task Group “GSB” (SITG “GSB”), with Police Senior Superintendent Gabriel Lopez as Commander, was created to ensure that case management system is in place in investigating Baaco’s murder.
