Around 500 senior citizens of Brooke’s Point recently received their pension from the provincial government. The payouts were held on June 18 and 19 at the Octagon town plaza.
Helen Bundal, population program officer and provincial social worker Razel Cajada administered the pay out amounting from P2,500 to P3,000 of this year’s total pension for each senior citizen aged between 60 and 65.
Reynaldo G. Bacosa, the town’s focal person for the program, said the release of the pension was delayed because of the long processing time.
“June 2017 last year pa dapat ito expected na matanggap ng mga Senior Citizens,” Bacosa said.
Salvacion Edualino, a pensioner, said he was pleased to receive the amount and considered it an early gift.
“Masaya rin ang pakiramdam, matagal din namin inantay. Akala namin wala na pero dumating din at parang maagang regalo sa amin. Kasi matanda na kami, kailangan namin ang pambili ng gamot,” she said.
