SCAN Int’l-Palawan files libel charges vs.expelled INC worker


Members of the Society of Communicators and Networker’s (SCAN) International in Palawan has filed a libel case against Lowell Menorca I, an expelled evangelical worker of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).

Nestor Bolasa, president of SCAN International of Palawan North filed the libel charge on Tuesday at the Puerto Princesa Hall of Justice.

The libel complaint stemmed from the statements of Menorca on national TV on October 28 accusing SCAN International as a “hit squad” and “private army” of the INC.

The complainants said Menorca’s statements are “maligning” of its thousands of members worldwide.

“His statements put us in a bad light as an organization and shamed our members,” they said.

Libel cases against Menorca were also filed by SCAN International chapters in Sorosgon, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan and Camarines Sur.

SCAN International is an organization of the INC involved in civic works such as blood donations, clean-up drives but is known for its search and rescue efforts during calamities.
