The Rio Tuba Nickel Foundation Inc. is holding a Christmas display contest for residents of its townsite, an event it dubbed as Pasko sa Minahan.
“Part ito ng camaraderie building sa Foundation and then to share also the spirit of the season dito sa townsite considering na malayo ito sa city. Para ma-feel naman ng bata at families at may mapapasyalan sila dito sa townsite,” according to Edwin Nerva, executive director of RTNFI.
Aside from the Christmas display along the roads, the company is also set to hold a community gift-giving activity on December 3 to around 200 families at Sitio Magtunaw at Sitio Apal-apal, Bgy. Culandanum, Bataraza.
RTNFI will distribute hygiene kits, food items, used clothing and there will be fun games. A demo on how to maintain personal hygiene shall also be conducted in the area composed mainly of Pala’wan tribe.
Nerva said that based on the data of RTN Hospital, Bgy. Culandanum is one of the areas in Bataraza high recorded cases of common colds which usually caused by poor hygiene of the community.
“May information, education, and education activity (IEC) din kami during the gift-giving kasi tuturuan namin sila paano ito gamitin,” Nerva said.
The hygiene kits will be coming from the voluntary donations of the staff of Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation.
RTNFI is a non-stock, non-profit organization established in June 2004 to implement the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of RTNMC and CBNC. The foundation implements health, education and shelter programs in the community of Bataraza.
