Vice President Leni Roberdo is scheduled to visit Palawan on August 11. Robredo is set to deliver a Keynote Address to a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) activity dubbed “Babaeniha” at the Western Philippines University (WPU) campus in Puerto Princesa City.
Babaenihan, which originated from filipino words “babae” and “bayanihan,” is a campaign program launched by UNFPA and the Office of the Vice President (OVP) last July 12, 2016. It is designed to address the problem of teenage pregnancy and to ensure that young Filipina girls are assured of the protection of their rights on education and health.
The measure aims to focus on developing programs to give young girls, specially those who live in far-flung and island communities, the right access to quality education, youth-friendly healthcare and decent employment to contribute in making the Philippines a better nation.
VP Robredo is also set to visit Langogan Fishing Village on Saturday to discuss possible tourism-related opportunities to the Langogan Angat Turismo Association (LATA), as part of her involvement to develop Community Based Sustainable Tourism (CBST) in various local government units.
