RICE PLANTING SEASON STARTS

With the announcement of the onset of the rainy season by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the National Food Authority (NFA) also announced the start of the rice planting season.
Edmundo Enrique, NFA- Palawan manager said that the rice planting season will last for three to four months.
Enrique said the rice that will be harvested will be used as buffer stock by the agency and will be made available to the market.
“We are ready if there will be a rice shortage in Palawan during the rainy season, ” he said.
He also added that the NFA warehouses in the province are filled with rice imported from Thailand and Vietnam.
The price of Vietnam rice is pegged at P32 per kilo and Thailand rice P27 per kilo.
