The Kabarangay Educational Assistance Program (KEAP) of the office of 3rd Palawan District Representative Gil P. Acosta will continue its P6.5 million educational assistance targeting some 875 public university students this school year despite the free tuition and miscellaneous fee covered by the Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.
Rep. Acosta’s scholarship coordinator Annabel P. Lagrada told Palawan News on Tuesday they will still be providing the 875 Palawan State University (PSU) and Western Philippines University (WPU) students the amount of P12,000 each this school year despite the free tuition and miscellaneous fee.
Acosta’s chief of staff Eugene A. Tabang added the fund will help provide the students’ other school needs such as book allowance, uniform allowance, and other minor school contributions.
He said that from the total P6.5 million KEAP’s fund for this school year, their office has allotted P3 million for the 500 WPU students, P2 million for the 125 students of PSU main campus and P1.5 million for the PSU San Rafael’s 250 student recipients.
