The four city department heads who were relieved of their functions were not cooperating and united with the visions of the administration, according to city information officer Henry Gadiano.
Effective May 19, Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron relieved city social welfare officer Lolita Yulo, city planning officer Jovenee Sagun, city engineer Sergio Tapalla and Roseville del Rosario of General Services Department.
Bayron appointed Lydia del Rosario for the CSWD, George Vasquez for the CPDO, Alberto Jimenez for the CEO and Steve Magay for GSD as officers in charge.
Gadiano said he is not sure how long the OIC’s will stay.
“The relieved department heads will not be dismissed from the service. They will still be required to report to City Hall but will not perform their functions, “he added.
He also pointed out that the action of the mayor is in accordance with guidelines of the Civil Service Commission.
“The mayor has warned them several times already and even talked to them but it seems they just don’t share the visions of the city government, “Gadiano said.
More heads will roll soon if the mayor sees that department heads are not cooperating with him, he said.
When Bayron won in the 2013 elections a meeting was held between him and city employees wherein the latter pledge allegiance to the chief executive.
Palawan News tried to get the side of the relieved department heads but they refused to comment.
