Puerto Princesa receives “Green Airport” award

The Puerto Princesa City International Airport was conferred the “Green Airport” award by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Engr. Percy Malonesio, CAAP manager for Puerto Princesa City International Airport (PPCIA), said during the airport’s first anniversary Friday last week that the award went with a P30,000 prize.

“Lumaban tayo ng contest, pasok tayo sa Green Airport Award. Kami [PPCIA] ang nakakuha ng championship. Kung sino ‘yong best airport or the Green Airport awardee, binibigyan ng amount at saka plaque of recognition. Nakakuha tayo ng P30,000 [at] ‘yon ang ginamit natin dito na budget [sa anniversary],” he said. The PPCIA has almost 270 personnel and staff.

The contest with the theme “Excellence in the Skies” was held as part of the 10th CAAP anniversary.
