The Palawan provincial board wants identification cards for indigenous people.
In a resolution of board member Cherry Pie Acosta, the board called on the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) chaired by Atty. Leonor T. Oralde to have a national ID system for those who belong to indigenous cultural group.
Acosta said that the ID system will help in identifying those who are really members of IP communities.
It will also help them have a better representation of themselves and will also help government identify the total number of IP’s in Palawan.
“It will help them with their identities especially if they will be made to appear before the Provincial Board,” Acosta said.
