Provincial gov’t grants financial aid to former NPA rebel


The local government of Palawan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) and in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has officially granted financial aid to a former New People’s Army (NPA) member in an awarding ceremony on March 8, 2017 at the Provincial Governor Conference Room, Capitol Compound, Puerto Princesa City.

The said financial assistance was approved under DILG’s Local Social Integration Program (LSIP) and Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP).

The beneficiary availed a total amount of Php 65K, which covers Php 15K for mobilization assistance while they integrated back into the community, and P50K as livelihood support.

The said event was attended by top officials from the Western Command .

“An increase in number of rebels embracing the fold of the law in the province shows the local government’s earnestness and partnership with WESCOM in attaining peace and order,” said WesCom in a statement released to the media.
