The provincial government’s E-governance unit has developed an application software called “Calauit Safari Suite” that is designed to manage the province’s procurements under its Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP).
Atty. Jefrie Sahagun, Egovernance Unit Officer, said they came up with the software in order to do away with their existing manual encoding method which they have determined to be inefficient.
Under the existing manual system, the PPMP, once approved by budget office, is submitted to the Bids and Awards (BAC) Committee for the approval to be included to the next year’s budget.
Through the BAC module, the PPMP will consolidate to become Annual Procurement Plan (APP) to be given to the Local Procurement Service- Depot and to DBM will serve as pre-order for every agency.
Sahagun said the CS Suite will not only speed up the process of procurement of common office supplies but it will also ensure that the input or the products to be chosen are connected which will be the guide of Depot and DBM.
The software Calauit Safari was taken from the wildlife sanctuary in Busuanga. Sahagun said they developed the software not only for use of the provincial government but also for other interested municipalities and barangays including Puerto Princesa.
Eventually, he said, it may be adopted by the other provinces to cure the supply shortage problem in the government or private offices.
“Hindi lang naman ito para sa amin. Gusto natin na maishare ito sa ibang ahensya dahil matagal ng problema ang encoding method ng procurement kaya alam namin na magwo-work out ito,” he added.
