PNP deploys additional cops for local poll duty

The Philippine National Police has deployed  an additional force of 50 policemen from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion IV-B (RMFB) based in Calapan, Mindoro to augment the province’s personnel that will provide security for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Police Superintendent Joey Bagayao, chief of the Provincial Operations and Plans Branch, said  on Thursday the additional policemen will complement some 100 personnel from the Provincial Mobile Force they have already deployed.

He added that the additional policemen will be deployed in Bataraza, Quezon, Rizal, Dumaran and El Nido.

Police Superintendent Timoteo L. Espiritu Jr., deputy force commander of the RMFB, said the policemen will mostly be manning the precincts since the local police have already been assigned to the precincts.

“Ang magiging function namin dito bilang  augmentation ay laman ng mga stations, dahil na-deploy sila sa mga polling precincts so nangangailangan sila ng additional na manpower galing sa amin,” Espiritu said.

Provincial PNP chief Gabriel Lopez also said that aside from RMFB, they are expecting more policemen to arrive in the province before the election day on May 14.
