The Palawan NGO Network Incorporated (PNNI) is only waiting for the denial of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development of its motion for reconsideration before it will appeal to President Benigno Aquino III to stop the construction of the coal- fired power plant in the province.

Lawyer Robert Chan, executive director of PNNI,said they will wait for the PCSD resolution denying their appeal.

“We will not bring the issue to the court as it will be all the more delayed,” Chan said.

He pointed out that the non-government organizations in Palawan is “not sleeping on the issue of stopping the controversial plan to build the coal fired power plant in Narra.

“We know we are facing influential politicians,” he said.

He added that they are “fighting so that the public will realize that we are protecting the last frontier of the Philippines.”

In their appeal, PNNI wants to appear before the PCSD  and present their positions.

Earlier, environment Undersecretary Manuel Gerochi said that PCSD cannot do anything anymore as the body has already made its decision and issued an endorsement of the project.

“They complied with the requirements,” Gerochi claimed.
