Municipal police authorities in Narra have arrested a farmer who was allegedly involved in the fabrication of improvised “paltik” guns in a makeshift shop.
Senior Supt. Gabriel Lopez, director of the provincial PNP, identified the suspect as Elpedio Cachero, 45, a resident of Sitio Caranyugan, Barangay Malinao, Narra.
“Noong pumunta doon ang pulis Narra para mag-serve ng search warrant, nakita iyong pagawaan ng paltik na parang factory. Buti naman at isinuko niya ang mga ginagawa niya ng walang nangyari,” Lopez told Palawan News.
Cachero surrendered three pieces of wood rifle bolts with trigger housings, a .22 caliber rifle already with trigger, two pieces improvised .22 caliber rifles, a .45 handgun, an unserviceable .38 revolver, 275 rounds of 5.56 live ammunition, 21 pieces of short metal magazines of 5.56 ammunition, and other implements and tools for homemade gun-making.
Cachero is now under the custody of the police for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”
