It will not be a dark Christmas for residents of seven sitios in Brgy. Labog, Sofronio Española town after the Palawan Electric Cooperative committed to energize it before the end this month.
Vicky Basilio, PALECO spokesperson called on residents in the area to apply for electrical connection.
Basilio said the realization of the project will depend on the number of applicants.
The power firm has set up a power line in the area since 2014 as part of the Barangay Electrification Program of the National Electrification Administration, but it was not energized because of problems in the lines.
The seven sitios are Gimba, Calatunan, Tagumagas, Agis-Agis, Silangan, Naltep and Kiyatan.
Basilio said as of now there are only a few who have applied for connection with PALECO.
“Sa mga kababayan natin na nag-aabang, sana ngayon palang inaasikaso na ninyo ang inyong mga papeles para kapag go na for energization ay sabay sabay na mapapailawan maging iyong mga bahay malapit sa lugar” she said.
In 2014, 47 sitios have benefited from the energization program including those in Puerto Princesa City, Roxas and Punta Baja in Rizal.
Basilio said that this year there are already 78 sitios in Palawan who are target beneficiaries but these would be divided into two batches.
The first batch will be bid out soon and is expected to be finished in 2016.
