PALECO to appoint new manager

The Paleco Board will open the position to interested applicants but added that many among its officials prefer to promote someone from within their ranks.

The Palawan Electric Cooperative is in search for a new General Manager to replace outgoing GM Ric Zambales, who retired from service on Tuesday.

Zambales was replaced by Napoleon M. Cortes as officer in charge. Cortes was formerly department manager of Paleco’s Member Services Department.

Zambales said the Paleco Board will open the position to interested applicants but added that many among its officials prefer to promote someone from within their ranks.

PALECO board chairman Jeffrey Y. Tan-Endriga said they may designate an acting manager each month until they are able confirm a permanent manager, but added they may also retain Cortes in his temporary post to ensure continuity of their programs.

Zambales added there will be an advantage to have a permanent general manager coming from the inside of the organization. He said this will create vacancies in key positions advantageous to employees.

“Kasi kung saka-sakaling mapipili ng board ‘yong department head, merong apat na empleyadong magkakaroon ng vertical promotions. ‘Yong department head magiging GM, ‘yong division chief magiging department head, ‘yong section head magiging division chief, ‘yong rank and file magiging section head. So apat na empleyado ng PALECO ang magiging masaya kung ang mapipili ng board ay taga-loob,” he said.

Zambales said he will help PALECO in its transition process.

Endriga said they aim to appoint the new Paleco permanent general manager within the year.
