Palawan records another two HIV cases


The Ospital ng Palawan has confirmed that two Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) positive cases have been recorded in the first quarter of 2016 which brings the number to 42 cases diagnosed since 2015.

 

Dr. Louie Ocampo, Chief Medical Professional Staff of the Ospital ng Palawan said that one of the two new HIV diagnosed was advised to immediately undergo Anti Retro Viral (ARV) Treatment at ONP to boost the cd4 counts and strengthen the immune system against opportunistic diseases.

 

Out of the 40 HIV case last year, 13 of them are undergoing ARV treatment.

 

The ONP Regional Hub Treatment Center (Red Top Center) is encouraging everyone particularly those who are potential HIV carrier to have themselves tested and treated. Dr. Ocampo assures everyone that they offer complete package for free from counseling, diagnosis, treatment to psycho-social support.

The City Health Office on the other hand is also extending support for HIV Counseling and Testing through the Social Hygiene Clinic which is open on weekdays 8:00am to 8:00 pm.

Puerto Princesa is one of the top six cities nationwide with a high increasing trend of HIV cases.
