The coverage of Palawan News of the recently concluded recall elections in Puerto Princesa City got 2,077,057 hits in its official website, data from its web partner.

Data provided by Tezoro Business Solutions showed that during the period covering May 1- 10, the website of Palawan News Weekly, had 2,336 unique visits, 4,262 visits and 87,892 page views.

On the day of the recall elections on May 8, the site had 7,902 views with the the archives having 1,476 views and the news stories “Recall election sa Puerto Pricesa, may 45 na kandidato”- 736 views, “Surprisingly Bayron files candidacy for recall election”- 614 and “Bayron wins recall poll”- 494.

Not only does the site had views in the Philippines with 1,862,733 but also from other countries as well.

Viewers from the United States were 76,201, United Arab Emirates- 36,426, Saudi Arabia- 32,818 and Qatar- 15,853.

The papers website provided real time updates of the recall elections from reporters and correspondents assigned to the city’s major polling areas.

“My Vote, My Future,”is the first citizen journalism project of Palawan News aimed at involving the public in the news gathering process.

Joy Tabuada, editor-in-chief said, “I didn’t expect this turnout.”

“What we really wanted is to be the source of credible information and to touch the lives of many through information which they could use in making informed decisions, ” she said.
