P20M cold storage plant to rise in Palawan

If critics’ claim of many unfulfilled promises, this one for Palawan is a promise fulfilled for President Benigno Aquino III.

The P20 million cold storage facility to be located in Bataraza town, Palawan can accommodate 100 tons of fish products.

The proposal for the construction of the facility was made by Aquino during 2013 State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The pre-bidding for the project is set on July 28 and actual construction will start on September 2015.

Saylito Purisima, chief of the construction program division of the provincial government of Palawan, said the funds for the projects has already sent to the Capitol.

A hitch may delay it however as Atty. Asis Perez, regional director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has not yet approved the survey of the area where it will be constructed on.

The BFAR is the implementing agency of the project.

The target site is in Sitio Marabahay, Bgy. Rio Tuba in Bataraza.
