Nutrition month kicks off in Bataraza barangay

The National Nutrition Council (NNC), together with the Provincial Government of Palawan, have chosen Barangay Sandoval in Bataraza as the site for the kick off ceremony of the 44th Provincial Nutrition Month on June 29.

Nutrition Month 2018 with the theme “Ugaliing magtanim, sapat na nutrisyon aanihin.” is a program carried out by the Palawan provincial government that aims to lower the Malnutrition Prevalence Rate (MPR) of the province, placed at 12.4 percent rate in 2015 based on official data.

The program was participated by Bataraza Municipal Health Office, Community Volunteer Health Workers (CVHWs), Municipal Nutrition Action officers from various municipalities, Coral Bay Nickel Corporation (CBNC), Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) Provincial Nutrition Action Office (PNAO), MDRRMO Bataraza, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and community residents.

Board Member Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez, representing the provincial government, encouraged the community to help in the provincial government’s effort to solve the malnutrition problem in Palawan.

Rodriguez said.

Laurence Amores, CBNC Community Relations General Supervisor urged the community and key health personnel to participate in the incoming 5 year planning for the phase 4 of SDMP of CBNC and RTNMC.

The program was concluded with a tree planting activity.
