The National Electrification Administration (NEA) through the Palawan Electric Cooperative has already energized 47 sitios in Puerto Princesa City and Palawan province.

Vicky Basilio, information officer of PALECO, said that the national government allotted P45 million for the Sitio Electrification Program.

Of the total number, 17 sitios are located in Puerto Princesa City, Narra-10, Roxas- seven in Sofronio Espanola, two for Rizal and one sitio each for Taytay and Aborlan.

Basilio said there is an ongoing installation of distribution lines in the area.

Last year, 15 sitios were energized, she said.

She however, pointed out that while the lines and other materials are covered by the program, “it is still the obligation of the consumer to process their applications with PALECO before electricity can be installed in their houses.”

Not all will have free connecting wires, Basilio said in reaction to reports from Sofornio Española that some persons are going around the town charging P1, 680 for every house connection.

“They are not employees of PALECO, “she said.

She reminded the public to identify who these persons are and verify with PALECO if they are employees.
