The Philippine Naval Forces West (NavForWest) based in Puerto Princesa City has a new commander.


In the turn-over ceremonies Thursday, Commodore Jorge Amba took over from Commodore Manuel Natalio Abinuman.


Amba said that he is assuring the people that he will focus on the territorial and internal defense operation, humanitarian assistance, environmental protection as well as international defense especially amid the rising tensions in the disputed West Philippine Sea.


“This is assignment is a big challenge for me, ” he said.


Amba said he is not new to the job as he was previously assigned in the province on board BRP Quezon and BRP Rizal.
