The municipal government of Narra is intensifying its campaign to protect its aquatic resources.
Orlando Acaylan, municipal fisheries and aquatic resources officer said members of the Sanggunian Bayan had given his office three weeks to determine the area of the sea under the jurisdiction of Narra.
The determination of the jurisdiction is in relation to the passage of a proposed municipal ordinance that will protect Narra’s aquatic resources against abusers.
Acaylan said the ordinance will deter fishermen from using illegal means of fishing.
The SB agreed to call the various stakeholders to a committee hearing to get their inputs for the proposal.
Earlier, Narra faces boundary dispute over its municipal waters with neighboring Aborlan and Sofronio Española towns.
