Narra cops probe Christmas brawling incidents

The Narra Municipal Police Station (MPS) is investigating two incidents of brawling involving youths that occurred during the Christmas break.

Police Chief Inspector Raul Regala, officer-in-charge of Narra MPS, said one incident involved a group of teenagers who mauled another group on Christmas Eve in Barangay Antipuluan. The other incident was a riot involving two groups of teens in Barangay Panacan who threw stones at each other.

Regala said they are preparing charges against a certain Allen Laxina, 18, and his brother, reportedly a minor, who were involved in the Antipuluan incident.

The group of teens who were reportedly drunk at that time mauled three minors who were riding a motorcycle near the municipal police station in Bgy. Antipuluan.

Regala said three counts of cases in violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Child Abuse Act will be filed against the suspects before the Provincial Prosecutor. If proven guilty, he said the suspects may face up to 12 years of imprisonment, depending on the court’s discretion.

“We let our young people go out even late at night because it was Christmas and they were visiting the houses of their relatives and friends for Noche Buena,” Regala told Palawan News.
