A man claiming to be a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was shot and wounded by an armed enforcer of the provincial government during a road altercation Monday.
A report of the Mendoza police station indicated that the man, identified as Eugene Tormon, had just figured in a vehicular accident in Barangay San Miguel when he was approached by a member of the provincial government’s security force who happened to be in the area.
The report said that Tormon claimed he was a member of the NPA and tried to attack a certain Rey Bongas with an ice pick, prompting Bongas, who was armed, to shoot him in the leg.
The police said that Bongas, a member of the Law Enforcement Task Force of the provincial government, was carrying a licensed firearm issued by the provincial government.
Police said they will file a case for direct assault against Tormon.
