Money Matters

People take money matters in different fashions. Some are selfish, unforgiving, demanding and heartless. Others are enslaved by money, and money is their god. They equate money for happiness and making money their daily business. They have illusion that money is life’s security. Is that you?

But others show us that money is important but not the ultimate goal in life. They teach us that though money is necessary, but not indispensable means for a happy and consummate life. They edify us by their wise use of money. They are generous and compassionate, sharing what they have and not counting the cost.

Possession of money is not really about ownership for it can be lost anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Rather, it’s about stewardship and responsibility. It’s about the realization that our possession and position are God’s providence entrusted to us for good use especially to serve the community and help the needy.

At the end of time, the final divine verdict will be on how we care and or not care, attend to or neglect the needs of our neighbor. “ Then the King will say to those on his right, “ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, you gave me food, I was thirsty, you gave me drink…..Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brothers, you did I to me”. ( Matthew 25:34-39). The he will say to those on his left, “ Depart from me, you cursed into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, you gave me no food, I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink……..”Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least, you did not do it to me. And these will away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” ( Matthew 25: 44-46).

Don’t allow your material possession be your master and god. Money should serve us, not enslave us, it should lead to charity not selfishness, generosity not greed, and for our salvation not to condemnation. Remember that money is a good servant but also a cruel master.

Notice that generous people are joyful people. Don’t you know that money matters don’t necessarily make us happy, but matters about God do? Don’t you observe that selfish, greedy and proud ones are lonely and miserable? Which side are you? That’s your option and your call.

On the flip side, someone said that love and kindness are never wasted. They bless the one who receives and the one who gives. Whatever is good for your soul, do it. “ One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody, Be kind and merciful. Let no one come to you without going away better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness. ”( Mother Teresa). The beauty of a woman is seen in the caring she gives and as the years pass, her beauty grows. Who cares for your beauty if your tongue is ugly? Every night, turn your worries to God for He is up all night anyway. And today, spend more time with people who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you. Amen on that folks!!
