The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) group in Palawan has entered the political fray, offering support to detained Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III who is contesting the mayoralty from Mayor Lucilo Bayron.
Juanito Lacobtan, who claims to be the Bangsamoro Armed Force (BAF)-MNLF spokesman, said they have offered to provide manpower support to Marcaida if the latter wished.
He said they have formally extended the offer through Marcaida’s spokesperson Elmer Zita.
Lacobtan also denounced the mass action organized by Bayron’s support at City Hall as “an abuse”.
Lacobtan said that there enforcement will also be through “people power” as they said that the law should be followed and not the will of money.
Sought for a reaction, Zita said they had declined the offer of the MNLF.
Zita added that they are prioritizing their efforts on seeking legal remedies to enforce the dismissal of Bayron on account of the ruling issued against him by the Ombudsman.
