Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, City Administrator, said on Wednesday the office of the vice mayor remains open even when there are no official transactions taking place there.
Pedrosa said all the official transaction of the office is currently already being handled by acting Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates. He also denied claims that the city government had forcibly closed down what used to be the office of Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III.
“Ang alam ko, nanatiling bukas ‘yan at hindi namin alam kung bakit naisara ‘yan dahil hindi kami ang may hawak ng susi niyan. Ang lahat ng transaksyon sa VM’s office, ang signatory dyan ay si Acting VM Nancy Socrates,” he said.
When asked by Palawan News why the office of the city vice mayor remains open despite the fact that there are no ongoing transaction within the office, the City Administrator’s said that he has no idea why.
“Vice Mayors come and go but the office will remain, the only thing that is permanent there is the office but not the office holder,” he said.
Pedrosa said that it is up to Socrates whether she will occupy the office of the Vice Mayor. However, if the acting vice mayor occupies the vice mayor’s Office, Socrates will still have to maintain her City councilor’s office open.
“Pero ime-maintain niya pa rin ang kanyang tanggapan sa city councilors office, kasi siya ay vice mayor in an acting capacity,” Pedrosa said.
