“Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.”
–Cree Indian Prophecy
When I read about Palawan News’ headline regarding PCSD decision to push the coal-fired power plant project with finality, I felt numb. At the back of my mind, I knew that this would happen. My colleagues and I have fought a good fight. However, our futile efforts are not enough to go against the flow emanating from the powers that be.
With things beyond my control, I decided to keep my peace and offered everything to God. He is the God of the past, present and future. He knows what is happening now and He sees the future.
As to government officials and decision makers, I hope that you’re right. You made a choice that affects not only the present generation but the forthcoming generations as well. You believe that setting up a coal-fired power plant will hasten the development in Palawan and will attract investors. As the saying goes, “That’s the price of development.”
As to Palaweños, it’s time to take pictures all over the province. It’s better to document all those beautiful images now before the coal fired power plant is constructed.
Meanwhile, the uproar on leaked videos against Planned Parenthood continues. The latest video shows Holly O’Donnell, an ex-Procurement Technician of StemExpress, LLC talking about the system of selling body parts from aborted fetuses.
While Pro Choice supporters may disagree with me, I do not agree with nor condone abortion. A mother’s womb is the safest place for a baby to develop and to grow into full term. But the way things are, aborted fetuses are being used as source of specimen for medical research.
What’s happening to the world? Planned Parenthood is not the only place to do abortion. In the Philippines, ordinary “hilots” abort the baby by giving bitter herbs to a pregnant woman or painfully manipulate her abdominal and crotch areas. It’s not exactly fool proof.
It’s eerie. Abortion reminds me of sacrificing infants, children and virgins to the dark gods of ancient times. No longer done in temples, babies are now aborted in modern, highly efficient clinics done by doctors for the sake of money.
